Flair Bartending Lesson #70: Cocktail Shaker Split Behind The Back

First things first: let’s talk hardware. For this move make sure you are using two 28 oz. cocktail shakers. Whether you prefer weighted cocktail shakers or unweighted cocktail shakers is up to you (check out this video to see why I prefer the weighted ones.)  In the lesson I’m using two 28 oz. powder coated neon cocktail tins –  you can get fancy colored ones like this if you want or you can save a few bucks and just get the normal ones. Whichever you choose, just make sure: 1) you get 28 ounce tins (not 16, 18, or other), and 2) you get two of the same tins.

Alright, now let’s talk about the move, starting with the grip. Stack the two tins, one inside the other, and place your thumb inside while wrapping your 4 fingers down the outside of the tin. Make sure the tins are not stuck together – it helps to keep the inner tin raised about an inch from the bottom of the other tin.
