Flair Bartending Lesson #53: Behind the Back Tomahawk Swipe Thru

This flair move itself is a slight variation on the Tomahawk Swipe Thru – so make sure you can do that move – but it is used very differently. The Tomahawk Swipe Thru was a great move to throw in among other Swipe Thru’s, before, after, or in-between, to create a nice little routine. The Behind the Back Tomahawk Swipe Thru is really better as a starter move. It doesn’t really flow as nicely into the move but it ends up in a good position.

Keys to getting this move down:

1) Make sure you can do the Tomahawk Swipe Thru.

2) Set the bottle down and just practice the tin throw behind your back.

3) Get comfortable with the throw and get consistent with where you catch it. It should come up over your shoulder and you catch it with the same hand.

4) When you put the moves together, they almost go at the same time. You may have to play around with the timing of it, throwing the tin just a little sooner or later than when you start the motion with the bottle.
